Ladies & Gentleman! Meet The Rondel Roberts Band

Explain your self in 5 words?
Modern Soul with Vintage Qualities
What “style” genre would you consider your self to be?
Neo-Soul that borrows from Afro-Caribbean, Latin, Lo Fi,  and Hip.Hop Music.
Where did your company name come from?
We spent hours going through band names and could not find anything that defined us collectively. Band names can get corny you see. We decided to use "The Rondel Roberts Band" because it allowed us to be whatever we wanted, on a per performance basis. It was also because our lead singers name has a nice ring to it.
What age were you when it hit you to want to become who you are today?
We all come from very musical families. We all took an interest in music at a young age by being exposed to some of the best recordings ever released. I think we all knew that we wanted to perform in stadiums the first time we jammed in our  "garage" bands. We knew that we wanted to go all the way when we (TRRB) had the entire dancefloor jumping, on the first song of our first show. And that song was an original.
What are or who are some of your influences/inspiration ?
We are influenced by a wide array of music which is apparent in our choice of covers. Rondel is influenced by Bob Marley, Ben Harper and Bill Withers. His anarchist approach to music shows apparent influence from artists like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix and his songwriting resonates singers like Neil Diamond and Bob Dylan. Jamil is influenced by artists like D'Angelo, Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson. He started out playing Grunge, moved to Latin Jazz and now his style ranges from Motown to Jazz, Reggae to Dancehall and from Hip Hop to Funk. Brad is a rock player who has been studying funk bass and groove and Jamison is a Jazz trained drummer with better taste in music than the entire band.
How long has your business been around?
We have been active for a little over a year.
What is your plan for the next year?
We have just finished doing an inspiring Summer circuit that had us on stage every week at great events/venues such as The Unicorn Pub, Vintage Chophouse, The CJSW Summer Street Series on Stephen Ave, Suds for Floods at Telus Spark, The Annual Calgary Sun & Salsa Festival and many others. We have been on a recording schedule for our debut album that we are planning on releasing in Spring. Once we release,we are planning on promoting the album at music festivals in Calgary and eventually go on a tour to build some buzz.
How do you plan on expanding?
Our expansion is somewhat dependant on how well the album does. The music industry can be tough on the indepedant end. Our goal is to record and release good music that resonates with people. Expansion for us would be to broaden our contribution to music enthusiasts by supporting other independant artists.
Where do you see your self in five years?
It is hard to say but contingencies considered, we hope that we are on bigger stages, playing for bigger audiences and recording for a solid fanbase in five years.
What kind of people are drawn to your work? How do you market your self?
Due to the vintage nature of our sound and the modern content we offer in our songwriting, we draw a broad demographic. The songs appeal to people from ages 16-40+ because it is nostalgic to the golden eras of music yet still adorns elements of modern charting songs. We market ourselves through performance and will have a multi-faceted marketing plan ready before release. So far we have been booked based on Youtube recordings.
Do you have a online shop? local store?
Our website is the best way to keep track of what we have to offer. For now, it is oriented towards providing a means for our fans to keep in touch. We will be using it to sell merchandise eventually. We will also be releasing music and post media and dates on a regular basis once a single is released.

What does your product say about you? what do you try to get across in the way you do business?
We are professional musicians who love music. Some musicians like to play music but sometime you can tell that they don't share the sentiment. When each of us listen to music, we can't help but respond to melodies and rhythm, physically and emotionally. We hope our performances and recordings illustrate our passion through song.
